Erika Jacobs

Erika’s passion for helping people drew her to the practice of law. Her interest in the impact of our most intimate relationships on our lives led her to dedicate her practice exclusively to the area of family law since her call to the Ontario Bar in the year 2012.

Erika is known for her strong moral compass and pragmatic approach to addressing legal disputes. She relies on her years of experience and strong understanding of the law to identify the best strategies and minimize risks for her clients.

Erika’s primary approach is to steer clients away from the costly and time- consuming litigation route. To assist her, she pursued additional training in alternative dispute resolution. She works cooperatively with opposing counsel to negotiate and settle cases. Where litigation is necessary, she is a strong advocate in the courtroom.

Prior to joining Williams Family Lawyers, she worked at reputable law firms, including a boutique family law firm in the Regional Municipality of Peel and a full-service law firm in the Regional Municipality of Durham.

Erika graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in the year 2010, where she was the recipient of the Robert Orr Entrance Scholarship for exceptional academic standing and extracurricular involvement. She also graduated summa cum laude from Saint Francis University in the year 2007 and was subsequently inducted into the Saint Francis University Athletics Hall of Fame.

Erika has been a member of numerous law associations over the years, including the Family Lawyers’ Association, the Durham Region Law Association, the Peel Law Association, and the York Region Law Association.

Outside of practising law, Erika earned a Certificate in Creative Writing from the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies. In addition, since the year 2014, she has been a member of the board of directors for Peel Cheshire Homes (Brampton) Inc., an organization that provides support to adults who live with a physical disability.
