Avleen Kohli
B.A./LL.B, LL.M.
As an associate at Williams Family Lawyers, Avleen works with clients in all areas of family law including parenting issues, child and spousal support, financial issues, and division of property.
Avleen completed her B.A./LL.B. (Hons.) from Panjab University, India and holds a Master’s of Law degree in Canadian Common Law (LL.M.) from Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto. Prior to joining Williams Family Lawyers, Avleen completed her articles in civil litigation at the Ministry of Attorney General, Crown Law Office – Civil, where she worked on complex high-profile litigation matters. She was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2020 and has exclusively worked in family law ever since. Avleen has also worked as an appellate litigator in India and has represented clients in civil, constitutional, and family law matters.
Although trained in complex high-stakes litigation, Avleen believes in minimizing conflict as much as possible when guiding her clients through the highly emotional and at times, highly acrimonious, process of resolving their legal disputes. Recognizing that every client has a unique set of circumstances, Avleen is an empathetic listener which enables her to understand her clients’ needs and effectively strategize to advocate in their best interests.
When she is not working, Avleen loves practising yoga, reading a good memoir, or learning a new piece on the piano. She enjoys being outdoors, be it travelling, hiking or taking long walks with her dog, Rumi.
Avleen can offer services in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu.
